Baked by Donors. Paid in Your Land. Cole Hefner: Texas House District 5
Campaign finance filings show Meta PAC money supporting Cole Hefner in Texas House District 5.
2026, February 25 – The Same Machine, Different Labels
The Forge the Future Project with Meta PAC filed campaign finance reports showing $1.36 million in funding from Meta Platforms Inc. and expenditures supporting multiple Texas officeholders — including Cole Hefner.
Reported on February 23, 2026, the Forge the Future Project with Meta PAC spent: $37,993.17 supporting Cole Hefner.
The PAC paid national consulting firms for:
• Polling
• Digital advertising
• Phone calls
• Direct mail
We’re going to say that again: in under 30 days, Meta’s PAC pushed nearly $38,000 through a Virginia political firm to protect their “friendly” incumbent in HD-5.
That’s not East Texas support.
That’s machine maintenance.
An entire year’s salary for a starting rural teacher, or
About a year of mortgage payments for a middle-class family, or
Two to three years of property taxes on a homestead (in many rural counties)
Grocery bills for a family of four for an entire year
And that was spent in less than 30 days.
In other words — the full political marketing package for crumbly Austin incumbents.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
The CandyDates supported by the Meta PAC substantially overlap with campaigns that have long used Berry Communications and the same Austin consultant class.
Different PAC name.
Different logo.
Same CandyDates.
Same consultants.
Same political infrastructure.
Same Establishment Oven.
Berry Communications builds the brand.
Meta money pushes the message.
Voters get the mailers.
And the insiders pick the winners before the ballots are even cast.
This isn’t grassroots politics.
This is pre-packaged incumbency protection:
Berry Communications → Candidate Network
Meta PAC → Same Candidate Network
Conclusion: Same political machine.
Cooked Up Politics calls these what they are:
Crumbly Incumbent Cookie CandyDates.
